About the Artist
Janet Murphy
Watercolor Art & Illustration
Janet Murphy, a professional watercolor artist, illustrator and graphic designer since the early 90's has been drawing and creating throughout her life. Transitioning from a love of traditional hand-lettering, typography design and a variety of painting mediums during her career, Janet currently focuses her works as a watercolor artist and illustrator.
Janet has called Idaho home for over 45 years and believes that her love of outdoor adventures, curiosity and imagination are key to her artistic growth. Her artist vision is to approach her paintings with a unique voice and connects to her art subject with a painterly approach. She attributes many of her cherished art techniques to her past teachers, artist friends, and her background as a professional illustrator and graphic designer.
Janet markets her work through illustrated books, prints, online, and word of mouth recommendations. Her paintings and illustrations have found homes across the country. She has been part of group gallery exhibits, featured in picture books, educational posters, interpretive signs, and her work is part of personal collections.
"I create watercolor paintings, illustrations and designs that reflect my experience of the natural world. This process includes my enthusiasm, appreciation, and curiosity. In this way, creating art is joyful, colorful, and makes me smile.
